S&T were part of a massive seismic strengthening project for Wellington’s tallest building. Concerns around the Majestic Centre’s seismic risk were raised after engineers assessed the building in 2011 after the Christchurch earthquakes. This eventually became New Zealand’s largest seismic strengthening project.
Using a little Kiwi ingenuity, contractors, including Fletcher Construction and S&T, had to stage work as the building remained occupied.
S&T scoped for dismantling the building’s ventilation systems, switchboards, hydraulics, fire protection and electrical systems and their reinstatements, many of which needed alternative solutions.
Kiwi Income Property Trust has since engaged S&T to work on Aurora Centre, another of their Wellington properties undergoing seismic strengthening.
